1 injured in SR 53 accident Friday

A woman was injured in an accident on SR 53 near CR 592 Friday afternoon.

Sgt. Matt Davis of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Kimberly Hamilton-Harper, 48, of Martin, was traveling north on SR 53 in a 2014 Jeep Compass and Patricia A. Baker, 80, of Springfield, was traveling in a 2013 Toyota Avalon behind the Compass. Hamilton-Harper was slowing for the intersection and Baker’s Compass ran into the back of the Avalon, he said.

Davis said Hamilton-Harper was transported to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Baker was cited with assured clear distance ahead, he said.

Baker was wearing a seatbelt, but it was unknown if Hamilton-Harper was, Davis said.

The accident was reported at 1:22 p.m. and North Central EMS, Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department and State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
