Teen sentenced to 9 years in prison

A Tiffin teenager who pleaded guilty to a sex charge was sentenced to nine years in prison during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley's courtroom Thursday. Bryce J. Snyder, 19, had pleaded guilty to a charge of rape, a first-degree felony, for behavior involving an 11-year-old girl. It was a lesser-included offense compared to Snyder's original charge due to the removal of an age specification. There was no force or threat of force, said Stephanie Reed, assistant Seneca County prosecutor. Kelbley followed the joint sentence recommendation and sentenced Snyder to a mandatory prison term of nine years, with credit for 142 days served. Snyder was classified as a Tier III sex offender. He declined to speak before sentencing. Two others were charged in December. Jaron M. Burns, 18, of Tiffin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape, a first-degree felony. Matthew A. Perry, 20, of Tiffin, pleaded guilty to a charge of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony, and was sentenced to 36 months in prison. The case involves separate acts with the same girl, according to Seneca County Prosecutor's Office.
