Last term

Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley is sworn into office by Magistrate Erica Gordon during a ceremony in his courtroom Friday morning. He is surrounded by his court staff, Amy Allen (from left), domestic relations bailiff; Donna Reiter, criminal bailiff; and Lisa Russell, civil bailiff and court administrator. Kelbley’s new term, which starts Jan. 1, is to be his last because  he is to turn 70 years old during the term. A person cannot take office as a judge after turning 70. Kelbley has been a common pleas court judge since 1988. “I’m looking forward to the next six years,” he said. Kelbley expressed appreciation for his family, with his wife, daughters and grandson in attendance for his oath; his staff; lawyers; law enforcement; and residents of Seneca County.
