The board of directors of Sutton Bank has named J. Anthony “Tony” Gorrell, CPA, as CEO. Eric Gillett is retiring at the end of the year after a 44-year career with the bank, 30 of which were in the role of CEO.

Gillett plans to remain chairman of the board.

He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The Ohio State University and prior to Sutton, was a senior accountant with Crowe LLP, a top-10 accounting firm in the United States. “I am pleased with Tony’s selection,” said Eric Gillett in a news release. “The board of directors feels his qualifications, experience, passion and forward thinking are qualities that make Tony the best candidate to lead Sutton Bank into the future, while upholding the mission, vision and core values of the bank.”

“I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Rick Gillett,” Gorrell said in the release. “He has been both mentor and friend and has built a reputation of unwavering commitment to our customers, employees, shareholders and the community banking industry throughout his four decades with Sutton Bank. I look forward to continuing this legacy of growth and advancement for our customers and communities we serve while respecting our proud 141-year history.”
