Kiku Fusion Sushi and Steak House plans to open in Tiffin Mall this summer, it was announced Friday.

A release from Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. states the company, based in Monroe, Michigan, is to expand in Tiffin, with a restaurant focusing on sushi and hibachi Japanese cuisine.

“The town is expanding, there are a lot of college students and young people,” owner John Zhu stated in the announcement. “It’s a good time to have a business in Tiffin.”

In the release, Mayor Aaron Montz said, “We are excited that Kiku Fusion Sushi and Steak House chose Tiffin to locate their business. This is another step forward for the Tiffin Mall site, and we are eager to announce additional development on the site in the near future.”

Kiku Sushi and Hibachi in Michigan is known for its modern interpretation of classic Japanese dishes and insistence on high-quality ingredients, according to the release. The Tiffin location will be the third restaurant for the owners.
