Chandelier to lighten local event planning

A wedding and event venue announced plans Friday to open in downtown Tiffin this year.

According to a Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. release, The Chandelier, a full-service wedding and event venue, is to open at 151 S. Washington St.

Holly Hoffman and Tom Fretz are renovating the 7,500-square-foot space. Plans include upgrades to the kitchen, lighting, carpeting and dance floor at the former civic center.

The two hope to open the business in late spring and, after renovations, the building could be used to host weddings, corporate events and training and other events.

“We will help plan the event right along with the client,” Hoffman states in the release.

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz said he was excited to see the vacant building back in use.

“Downtown Tiffin has felt the lack of an event hall of this size since the civic center closed,” he said. “The Chandelier will be a great addition to what the downtown has to offer.”

SIEDC Downtown Main Street Manager Amy Reinhart said the organization is very excited the business is opening downtown.

“An event venue is something that downtown has been in need of. It will be a true asset to the community,” she said. “It is fantastic to see the continued momentum and growth in downtown Tiffin.”

Fretz and Hoffman bring different skills to the business. Fretz has experience as a disc jockey and videographer while Hoffman previously managed the Neeley Center at Terra State Community College. The center is a conference and hospitality center at the school. Hoffman also is to provide catering and event planning services.
