Bourbon bar planned for downtown

A bourbon bar is to open in downtown Tiffin later this year.

According to a release from Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp., Dave Spridgeon, a partner in the Findlay-based Bourbon Affair, announced Thursday he plans to open Renaissance Refined Spirits.

The bar, to be located at 129 S. Washington St., is to feature whiskeys and wines and is to have a Roaring ’20s theme.

Spridgeon said he hopes to have the greatest variety of whiskeys in the state, while also offering 12 beers on tap and 20-30 wine options. The menu also is to have three small plate options.

Spridgeon said he hopes to encourage customers to shop and eat downtown.

“We would like to work with local restaurants and complement other downtown businesses,” he said in the release.

Spridgeon hopes to host monthly bourbon-tasting events, a Kentucky Derby party and a party celebrating the end of Prohibition.

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz said he was excited for the new development.

“The Renaissance will further our vision of making downtown Tiffin a destination,” he said in the release.

The release states Spridgeon hopes to open in late summer.
