These mobile food providers are becoming popular all over the country, including in the Tiffin area. The street-food business, which includes mobile food trucks and carts, is a $1 billion industry in the US that grew 8.4 percent from 2007 to 2012. Seventy-eight percent of street food vendors have four or fewer employees. Jane and Rick Frederick own and operate mobile hot dog and ice cream businesses in Tiffin.
