Jim Roberts, an 83-year-old Tiffin resident who was serving as First Ward councilman on Tiffin City Council, died Friday night.

He died at 10:50 p.m. at St. Francis Home, said Robb Mack, owner of Hoffman-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.

Dale Thornton, city of Tiffin’s administrator, said Roberts had been transported from ProMedica Toledo Hospital’s intensive care unit to St. Francis on Friday.

Roberts’ last request was to get back home to Tiffin, Thornton said.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, according to the funeral home.

Roberts’ funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at A Little Faith Ministries, and his burial, with military honors by Seneca County United Veterans Council, will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Roberts was the second Tiffin City Council member to die this week.

Mark Hayes, 63, who had been on Tiffin City Council since being appointed in September 1999, died in his sleep Tuesday.

He was serving as acting mayor while Mayor Aaron Montz was in Japan.
