Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone to appear at The Ritz

Herman’s Hermits are set to perform at 7:30 p.m. March 21 at The Ritz Theatre, 30 S. Washington St.

At the age of fifteen, Peter Noone achieved international fame as lead singer of the legendary ’60s pop band, Herman’s Hermits. His classic hits included “I’m Into Something Good,” “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter,” “I’m Henry VIII, I Am,” “Silhouettes,” “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat,” “Just A Little Bit Better,” “Wonderful World,” “There’s A Kind of Hush,” “A Must To Avoid,” “Listen People,” “The End of the World” and “Dandy,” Ultimately, Herman’s Hermits sold over 60 million recordings. In all, 14 singles and seven albums went gold. The Hermits were twice named Cashbox’s “Entertainer of the Year.”

Auditions to take place for upcoming musical ‘The Robber Bridegroom’

The Ritz Players will be hosting open auditions at 7 p.m. March 15 and 16 at The National Theatre at The Ritz, 30 S. Washington St., for the upcoming musical “The Robber Bridegroom.”

The show will be performed May 8, 9, 16 and 17.

There are adult roles for eight men and six women. The show will also features an ensemble. Everyone that auditions should bring a prepared song to sing and may be asked to sing a song from the show. Please wear comfortable shoes to square dance in.

“The Robber Bridegroom” tells a story of a rousing, bawdy Southern fairytale from the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Driving Miss Daisy! The score, by Robert Waldman, is meant to be played by a small band onstage — and it’s one of the only genuine bluegrass scores ever heard in a Broadway musical.

Friday Night Live at The Ritz

The next Friday Night Live at The Ritz will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the theatre, 30 S. Washington St.

Tickets are $10 and the event is sponsored by Tong’s Air Conditioning, Heating & Plumbing.

The artists featured will be J. Scott Franklin — singer/songwriter, Tim Holt — Americana singer/songwriter, and Britanie Botton — singer.

Ritz adds prime-time showing to matinee movie series on March 18

The Ritz Theatre is to host the Hollywood’s Greatest Movies series at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 18 with a screening of “The Godfather.”

“The Godfather” (1972) tells the story of the aging patriarch of an organized crime dynasty transfers control of his clandestine empire to his reluctant son (IMDB.com).

The film stars Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and James Caan and is directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

Running Time: 2 hours, 55 minutes
