Chontay is the daughter of Rochel Swartz and stepfather Tony Swartz of Fostoria. She graduated from Liberty Benton High School in 2007, attended Ohio State University Lima and Columbus campuses and graduated from Columbus State Community College in 2013 with a nursing degree. She is a medical receptionist at IHA in Milan, Michigan. James is the son of Jim and Judy Pershing of Carleton, Michigan.
