TCS art festival grows to include music, too

Tiffin City Schools’ annual art festival is going to become more inclusive and gain more space this year.

The newly named Tiffin City Schools Spring Art and Music Festival is to take place 6:30-9 p.m. April 28 and noon -3 p.m. April 30 at a new location, Tiffin Columbian High School.

The festival, which primarily focused on art work, is getting an upgrade this year by adding musical performances from students, according to art teacher Marcia Burlile.

The festival is to include musical performances in 15-minute intervals from elementary student ensembles, including the 4/5 Choir, and Tiffin Middle School Choir and TMS solo and ensemble students. Also, a physical education teacher from Washington K-1 Elementary School, Angie Ellis, is to have her drumming with fitness students perform.

“This is a chance for the entire community to get involved,” Burlile said.

The art show is to remain similar to previous years. Students’ art work is to be on display by grade level and Burlile said there would be hundreds of works displayed.

“This is an opportunity for us to show the visual and performance arts in one location,” she said. “It is also good for families who have children in multiple buildings to see their children’s work. We hope this brings families and the community together.”
