After 38 years with 'Berg School of Music, a segue for Owen | Advertiser-Tribune For 38 years, John Owen has made his home in the Tiffin and Heidelberg University communities. Come the end of the semester, Owen and his wife plan to move to Indiana to be with family. Owen most recently has served as associate dean and director of the School of Music, professor of trumpet and director of bands, but has served in many of the positions within the School of Music during his tenure. Owen said he believes now is the best time to retire. "I have young grandchildren who are about to start school and I'd like to be around them," Owen said.
