Spartans take down Student Princes
CLEVELAND — In a game that was originally supposed to be played at Heidelberg, Case Western Reserve scored four runs in the first inning and didn’t look back in an 8-1 win.
The game was moved to Cleveland because of rain.
The Spartans totaled 15 hits, including four off of HU starting pitcher Mac Spears, who only lasted 2/3 of an inning. Clyde graduate Cayden Rollins pitched five innings of relief, allowing two runs on four hits and New Riegel graduate Alec Zoeller threw 2/3 of an inning.
HU (22-10) had seven hits as Kane Bateman and Tyler Smith (double) both had two hits. Kyle Jenkins and Eric Devore both added doubles.
Jacob Pestel and Jacob Lott each drove in a pair of runs for the Spartans (20-11).
Dragons edge Findlay,
sit in 1st place
FINDLAY — Down 8-5 at halftime, Tiffin needed to make a run in the second half to make something happen against Findlay.
The Dragons scored eight straight goals to take a 13-8 advantage and held off the Oilers in a G-MAC lacrosse match.
As a result of the win, the Dragons improved to 5-0 in the G-MAC, which is on top of the standings.
Elle Hamilton led the way for TU (9-6) with eight goals and eight draws, while Ashley Osbeck added three goals and four ground balls and Maddy Batley ended with a goal, an assist and 10 draws. Amie Morrison had a goal and Daniela Carey dished an assist. Kat Schneeberger got the win in net with eight saves.
