Rams knock back Bucyrus
UPPER SANDUSKY — The singles players cruised and a lineup change in doubles play also brought some success Thursday as Upper Sandusky cruised to a 4-1 win against Bucyrus.
“It was a good win for us over Bucyrus tonight. Our singles players all had a plan on how they wanted to attack their opponents and they executed it to near perfection. It’s always good when the plan gets carried out,” Upper Sandusky coach Aaron Frazee said.
“We played a different set of duos in our doubles lineup tonight, and Bucyrus’ first dubs team gave our guys some problems,” he said. “We were very happy for Seth (Mawer) and Logan (Hamilton) in getting their very first varsity wins (at second doubles), and they were happy to get points on their board for the team.”
Levi Malone beat Kyle Hamm 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for Upper Sandusky (7-2), Landon Cotto-Ramos blanked Karsen Kimmel 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, and Justin Blackburn shut out John Bell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
Clay Shifer and Jaden Deskins gave the Redmen (1-7) their only win by beating Nolan Mewhorter and Kyle Snowden 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 at No. 1 doubles.
Hamilton and Mawer countered at No. 2 doubles by dropping Fisher Kalb and Jeremiah Skelton 6-4, 6-4.
