Clyde keeps rolling with eighth-straight win

SANDUSKY — Clyde claimed its eighth win in a row Thursday in what’s become its typical dominating style, booting Perkins 5-0 in Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division play.

Since a 3-2 loss April 4 to SBC rival Norwalk, the Fliers have won six matches by 5-0 scores and the other two by 4-1 margins.

That included Thursday, with the victory moving the Fliers to 13-1 overall and 7-1 in the SBC.

Alex Caillet beat KB Po 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Daniel Stevens blanked Ethan Weathermax 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, and Ben Hohenstein dropped Jaron Ninke 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.

Jacob Strudthoff and James Dry defeated Pirates Riley Hirshman and AC Blue 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Clyde’s Logan Nicely and David Hohenstein beat Seth Jolliff and Mike Ingram 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Truckers stay perfect in SBC

NORWALK — Norwalk lost just one contest Thursday, beating Columbian 4-1 to remain unbeaten in the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division.

The lone win for the Tornadoes (7-6, 3-3 SBC) came at No. 2 singles, with Jacob Weingart upending Carson Colahan 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Norwalk’s Andrew Mozina claimed a 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against Ryan Crocker, while Austin Brown beat Jason Weng 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1.

Truckers Andrew Riley and Wyatt Brown held off Zach Krintzline and Collin Burkett 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 1 doubles.

Ben Traczek and Sam Vanderpool beat TC’s Jacob Beamer and Trey Shuey 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.
