Bulldogs take down Tornadoes in Defiance

DEFIANCE — Carson Mellott limited Defiance to three hits and three runs Saturday, but the TC offense sputtered in a 3-1 non-league defeat.

Caden Kline dominated on the mound for the Bulldogs, giving up a run on four hits with nine strikeouts and four walks in six innings of work.

Defiance scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings, while TC got its run in the top of the second.

Trevor Blodgett and Jaden Myers tripled for the Tornadoes. Adalberto Vega hit two singles and drove in a run for Defiance. Brandon Shafer added a double and an RBI.

Mellott went 4 2/3 innings, fanning four and walking two.

Rams run away from TC

DEFIANCE — After Columbian began the game with a run in the top of the first, Tinora responded with two in the bottom half of the frame and eight more in the second to blow the game wide open. The Rams won the contest 17-6 in five innings.

Spence Giesise doubled, singled and drove in three runs for the Rams, Collin Derrow tacked on three singles, Andrew Imthum hammered a home run and drove in three runs, Tye Narden doubled and drove in three runs and Trey Hurtt and Jonah Jimenez both singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Myers led the Tornadoes at the plate with a double, a single and an RBI. They also got a pair of singles and an RBI from Gabe Reyes and a single and an RBI from Caleb Hoyda.

Jayden Bergman got thew win on the mound, giving up three runs on five hits in four innings. He fanned six and walked three.

Mike McDole suffered the loss for TC. He allowed 10 runs (five earned) on just two hits in 1 2/3 innings of work. He walked five and struck out a pair.

Breidenbach tallies

3 hits in H-L win

BASCOM — Bailey Breidenbach belted a home run, hit two singles and drove in three runs for Hopewell-Loudon in a 9-2 win over Patrick Henry Saturday.

The Chieftains and Patriots were tied at 1 after one inning, but H-L ran away with it with a five-run third.

Cody Balliet added three singles and an RBI for the Chieftains, Ashton Bour doubled and drove in a run and Ethan Oswalt and Gage Burns both singled and drove in a run. Travis Milligan lined a double.

Clay Schweibert hit two singles and drove in a run for the Patriots. They also got a double and an RBI from Caleb Rosengarten.

Burns got the win on the mound, allowing a run on six hits in six innings. Tyler Fedele pitched the final inning, giving up a run on a hit, while fanning a pair.

Geissman-led Bucks sweep Big Red

NEW WASHINGTON — Elliot Geissman lit up Plymouth for six hits in a doubleheader sweep for Buckeye Central Saturday.

In Game 1, the Bucks jumped out to a 6-1 lead after four innings en route to a 6-3 win. In the second game, the Bucks scored runs in six of seven innings for a 6-1 victory.

Geissman doubled, singled and drove in four runs in the opener. Brady Biglin and Kaiden Vaughn both added a pair of singles and Nick Ramey, Tommy Phillips and Justin Dentinger all singled and drove in a run.

Vaughn was the winning pitcher, twirling a complete game. He gave up three runs (one earned) on three hits. He fanned eight and walked just one.

In Game 2, the Bucks (5-9) compiled 11 hits. Geissman singled twice and drove in a run, Alex Kanney lined a pair of singles and drove in a run, Brady Biglin doubled and singled and Brady Kerschner doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Phillips and Connor McCarthy each drove in a run.

Kanney tossed a one-hitter in a complete game, struck out 13 and walked just one.
