Hickman leads Dragons past Panthers
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tiffin’s Thomas Hickman delivered a career-high 20 points off the bench Saturday as the Dragons outlasted Kentucky Wesleyan 85-81 in G-MAC play.
Wesleyan cut the TU lead to 83-81 with seven seconds left, but Hickman drained a pair of free throws to ice the contest.
Hickman also tallied four assists and three rebounds for the Dragons, while Joshua Williams added 14 points, Austin Adams had 13 points and eight boards, Hunter Schmalz popped in 13 points and Shane Waldon had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Adam Goetz led the Panthers with 21 points. They also got 18 points and 12 boards from Mohamed Abu Arisha.
Kentucky Wesleyan handles Tiffin
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Kentucky Wesleyan jumped out to a 22-17 lead after the first quarter and added to the lead every quarter but the fourth en route to an 87-62 G-MAC win over Tiffin Saturday.
The Dragons struggled shooting just 34 percent (24-70) from the floor, including a dismal 10 percent (2-20) from beyond the arc. Kentucky Wesleyan also had the advantage at the free throw line, shooting 25 of 35, while TU was 12 of 19. It also had a big rebounding edge, 52-35.
Kelsey Ivers and Emma Johnson each scored 12 points for the Panthers, while Kaylee Duncan finished with 11 points as 11 players scored.
Sarah Cummings dropped in 14 points and grabbed six boards for the Dragons. They also got 12 points and nine boards by Jasmine Watts and 10 points from Jensen Hiegel.
Purple Raider men
take down Heidelberg
It was Senior Day for Heidelberg Saturday, but it was clear, Mount Union didn’t care one bit.
The Purple Raiders held Heidelberg to 26 first-half points and walked away with a 72-66 Ohio Athletic Conference win, 72-66.
Nathan Bower-Malone had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Purple Raiders (18-4), while Collen Gurley added 12 points and six boards. Mount Union shot pretty well at 45 percent (26 of 58) from the field and at the free throw line (15-18).
Myron Prewitt, like he does most nights, had another double-double, with 19 points and 13 boards. He also swiped three steals. ‘Berg (8-15) also got 16 points from Dylan Woods and 12 points and seven rebounds by Phariz Watkins.
Princes struggle to
score against Purple Raiders
Mount Union raced out to an 18-10 lead after the first stop and led 49-32 after three quarters on their way to a 62-46 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Heidelberg.
Tori Rappach led the way for the Purple Raiders (16-6) with 14 points, while Rachel Tinkey chipped in 11 points.
HU (9-13) didn’t have anyone score in double figures, but Maddy Crawford finished with nine points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Brittanie Ulmer and Brooke Beamer each added eight points.
