Columbian boys sending contingent, Calvert’s Harris to make 4th trip
Senecas senior reaches state in two events, TC’s Mont part of four entries, Moore three
Columbian will be taking a large contingent of athletes to this week’s Division II state meet in Canton, highlighted by Sergi Mont , who qualified in four events, and Clay Moore, who made it out in three.
Calvert’s Taylor Harris, and Upper Sandusky’s Abby Wenger will be joining them.
And so will a Rams’ relay team.
Harris will be making her fourth straight appearance in the girls’ state meet after qualifying in the 100 breaststroke and the 100 butterfly.
The senior — who is to swim at Bowling Green State University next season — is Calvert’s lone representative. Her preliminaries will be Thursday afternoon at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.
Like Harris, Wenger advanced in the 100 breaststroke. She also made it as part of the Rams’ 200 medley relay team that also includes Katie Conley, Abbey Wenger, Kami Swaartz and Maya Collins.
Meanwhile, Columbian’s participation could be a three-day affair.
At 2 p.m. Wednesday, Tornado divers Clay Moore and Myrick Hill will compete in the boys Division II 1-meter event.
On Thursday, Moore will return in the afternoon to take part in Columbian’s two relays. He’s part of the 400 free relay, which also includes Sergi Mont, Josh Fanning and Cole Eisenhower.
Mont, who is an exchange student from Spain, made it out in two individual events: the 100 freestyle and the 200 individual medley.
Also making Canton for TC is the 200 free relay, which consists of Mont, Moore, Eisenhower and Colin Burkett.
Preliminaries for all the swimming events are Thursday, with the finals Friday.
