WRESTLING: Bellevue will host the 42nd annual Bellevue Bob Bailey Wrestling Invitational Dec. 8 in the Bellevue High gymnasium. Bellevue, Carey, Clyde, Genoa, Huron, Oak Harbor, Amherst Steele, Sandusky St. Mary, Wellington and Westlake will compete. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. The finals start at approximately 5:45 p.m. or an hour after the sixth round of morning and afternoon wrestling. All-day adult tickets cost $9, while all-day student tickets cost $6. Tickets for only the finals evening session cost $6 for adults and $5 for students. There will no passes accepted. T-shirts will be available to purchase until noon.

RACING: The high school basketball recently started, but Fostoria girls coach Craig Mintz has already picked up some postseason honors … in auto racing. The Gibsonburg resident was officially awarded his third 410 sprint car track championship at Fremont Speedway last Saturday. Mintz, the 2010 and 2012 champ at Fremont, competed in all 10 A-mains this year. He started the year with four straight wins to run his victory total to 14 at Fremont Speedway, and never finished worse than seventh during the season until the final two races. He recorded seven top-10 finishes and eight top-10 runs, ending with an average A-main finish of fifth. Other track champions were John Ivy in 305 sprints, Keith Sorg in dirt trucks and Dustin Keegan in late models. The rookies of the year were Kelsey Ivy in 410 sprints, Mike Keegan in 305 sprints, Ben Clapp in dirt trucks and Bill Clapp Jr. in late models.

JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tori Fritz scored 13 points and Makenna Depinet tallied 10 to key Seneca East’s 42-30 win against Carey.

n Hopewell-Loudon upended New Riegel 28-23, getting six points from Lennah Fox and five from Hailey Welly. Bria Dailey scored six points for New Riegel and Brienna Norville had five.

n Colonel Crawford doubled up Upper Sandusky 40-20.

n Jillian Stover and Kaureena Aldridge both popped in 10 points to spark Old Fort in a 45-15 win against Huron. Jaislyn Woodall added nine points for the Stockaders.

JV BOYS BASKETBALL: Mohawk held off Fostoria 54-51. Landen Snyder scored 18 points for Mohawk and Troy Russell had nine.

FRESHMAN BOYS BASKETBALL: Fostoria beat Mohawk 54-24.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL: Bryce Roggow scored 14 points and Damian Brockington netted 10 to key Tiffin’s 50-39 seventh grade win against Sandusky.

n Sandusky’s eighth grade edged Tiffin 57-56. Logan Beaston scored 30 points for Tiffin and Garritt Prenzlin had nine.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tiffin’s seventh grade clipped Sandusky 19-18, getting eight points from Brooke Johnson and five from Lexi Quickel.

n Mackenzie Davis and Gracie Chester each scored six points to propel Tiffin’s eighth grade past Sandusky 22-12.
