Warriors win 8th in a row
SYCAMORE — Madi Chester and Kaylee Ward posted double-doubles for Mohawk in a 25-7, 25-17, 25-18 sweep of Northern 10 Athletic Conference foe Upper Sandusky Monday.
Madi Chester registered 16 kills and 12 digs for the Warriors (8-1, 5-1 N10), while Ward added 12 kills, 12 digs and an ace, Ellie Shaw lined nine kills and made nine digs, Paityn Clouse tallied six kills, five digs and a pair of aces and Emma Myers-Huffman ended with five kills and two digs. Alexa Konkle collectedtwo kills, 34 assists and six digs and Aubrey Margraf made five digs.
Kenedi Hayden had seven kills, three aces and 12 digs for the Rams (1-9, 1-5) and Jadyn Smalley ended with 14 digs.
Fliers top Little Giants
CLYDE — Ruby Schabel totaled 16 kills, five solo blocks and four digs to help Clyde get by Fremont Ross 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 in non-league play.
Backing Schabel for the Fliers was Grace Ball with 35 assists and five digs, while Jackie Smith added nine kills and nine digs, Braylin Caudill had six kills and 12 digs, Maddy Andecover slammed six kills and Alexis Keegan finished with four kills and 10 digs.
“The varsity played extremely hard to beat Fremont Ross,” Clyde coach Allison Carter said. “They worked together the entire match and didn’t give up.”
Eagles sweep Chieftains
BASCOM — Liberty-Benton made quick work of Hopewell-Loudon 25-12, 25-16, 25-15 in Blanchard Valley Conference action.
Peyton Hoover had six kills and nine digs for H-L (6-4), while Megan Kreais slammed five kills, Chelsey Depinet made 13 digs, Grace Dohanyos made seven digs and Abbi Roerdink dished 16 assists.
Tanner’s 39 fuels Blue Devils
FOSTORIA — Carey’s Ethan Tanner carded a 39 Monday at Lakeland to help the Blue Devils dispatch Arcadia 178-185 in non-league play.
Backing Tanner for Carey (7-3) was McKain Miller with a 43, Dylan Grothaus with a 45 and Brayden Miller shot a 51. Carter Frederick posted a 56 and Peyton Young ended with a 59.
For the Redskins, Casey Cramer led the way with a 43, while Will Recker (45), Joel Lininger (48) and Wyatt Lucas (49) also contributed.
Fliers slip past TC
Despite a birdie on No. 15 and a 41 carded by Columbian’s Trevor McCarthy, Clyde edged the Tornadoes 181-183 at Mohawk Country Club Monday in Sandusky Bay Conference action.
Ben Hohenstein led a consistent Clyde (6-2) squad with a 44, while Logan Nicely added a 45 and Ryder Gamertsfelder and Tyler Dearth shot twin 46s. Grant Reese shot a 47 and Max Yates finished with a 56.
For the Tornadoes (6-2), Andrew Branson carded a 43, Greg Gase had a 48 and Collin Anway recorded a 51. Brenton Brown ended with a 52.
Streaks take over River Division
FREMONT — Already beating Lakota earlier in the season, Fremont St. Joe topped the Raiders again Monday at Sycamore Hills, 169-171.
With the win, the Streaks are 10-1 in the Sandusky Bay Conference River Division, while Lakota dropped to 9-2.
St. Joe got a 37 from Garret Michael and a pair of 43s from Lance Emrich and Blake Michael.
Lakota’s Kyleigh Dull shot a 40 and Connor Hill had a 42.
Blue Streaks handle Tornadoes
Sandusky didn’t have a problem scoring goals Monday at Columbian as it held a 5-0 halftime lead en route to an 8-1 Sandusky Bay Conference win.
Max Corso scored two of the five goals in the first half for the Blue Streaks.
Columbian’s Adam Schermer netted an unassisted goal in the 50th minute. Schermer also saved six shots in net for TC, while Evan Schleter had three.
TC ties Sandusky
Sandusky struck first in the first half, but a goal from Columbian late in the first half tied the game 1-1 in Sandusky Bay Conference play.
TC (1-4-3) out-shot the Blue Streaks 9-1 in the second half, but it couldn’t find the back of the net.
Annie Rannigan tied the game for the Tornadoes on a corner kick. Koryn Morlock made four saves in net for the Tornadoes.
