H-L boys, Carey girls race to titles
MOUNT BLANCHARD — Hopewell-Loudon boys captured the first three spots and had another two end in the top 11 Thursday en route to the Riverdale Invitational title.
Meanwhile, Carey’s Sarah Reinhart captured the girls individual title and had two teammates run in the top 10 to help the Blue Devils hold off H-L for the other championship.
Jordan Foster (17:48.33), Carter Ritchey (17:59.28) and Trey Masterson (18:16.33) ran 1-2-3 for the Chieftains, who easily beat Elmwood 22-102 for the boys crown.
Caden Crawford added a seventh (18:41.39) and Connor Roush took 11th (18:53.73) to aid H-L. Brendan Durbin (17th, 19:27.33) and Sam Meade (19th, 19:29.32) rounded out the varsity team.
Carey finished eighth out of 11 teams with 171 points.
Isaiah Hoepf’s 14th (19:02.36) and Tanner Stoll’s 24th (19:47.17) paced the Blue Devils.
In the girls race, Reinhart won in 21:22.11, Keely Wentz claimed sixth (22:46.51) and Nellie Bianchi took eighth (23:18.1) to lead Carey past H-L 41-47.
Abby Allison added a 12th (23:58.87) for the Blue Devils and Liberty Heinze claimed 27th (26:49.37). Jenna Watkins (30th, 27:46.2) and Sydney Arend (32nd, 27:59.7) also ran for Carey.
Renae Kapela ran seventh (22:53.16) and Taylor Leiter captured ninth (23:37.11) to key H-L.
Ashley Brickner added a 13th (24:11.78), Corrin Hoover came in 15th (24:29.69) and Taylor Joseph ended 16th (24:29.89). Brook Breidenbach (21st, 26:04.78) and Emma Shellhammer (22nd, 26:05.21) also ran for H-L.
