Pair of seconds guide Clyde to third
CLYDE — Willard claimed four of the five titles Saturday to beat Sylvania Southview 48-34 for the title at the Clyde Bob Wilson Memorial.
Annsley Mann beat Willard’s Emma Moll 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to give Southview its lone championship.
Clyde captured third with 30 points, Bellevue tied Huron for fourth (14) and Calvert ended sixth (6).
Two runner-up finishes helped power the Fliers to third. Maddi Bannister fell 6-1, 6-3 to Willard’s Carlee Gibson in the No. 2 singles title match, while Willard’s Addy Paxton beat Emma Strudthoff 6-1, 6-0 for the crown at No. 3.
Clyde’s Lakotah Cagle beat Bellevue’s Leighann Motley 8-2 for third at No. 1 singles, while Fliers Siera Hisey and Mary Wilkerson beat Calvert’s Bria Coleman and Victoria Ardner 8-0 for third at No. 1 doubles.
Megan Barrett and Hali Hagemeyer added a fifth at No. 2 doubles by beating Calvert’s Kara Brodman and Hanna Welter.
Bellevue’s Maddie Corrado and Kaitlyn Cullen upended Huron’s Morgan Gast and Libby Faflik 8-5 for third at No. 2 doubles.
Another fourth for Bellevue came at No. 2 singles, where Southview’s Ashley Blackford held off Rayven Whyde 8-7 (12).
Devyn Warnement took fifth at No. 1 singles for Calvert by beating Huron’s Desiree Fisher 8-2.
