Lady Red singles key in SBC triumph over Tornadoes
BELLEVUE — Bellevue and Columbian had some close doubles matches, but the Lady Red came out on top 4-1 for a Sandusky Bay Conference Lake win.
In singles play, Rayven Whyde beat Casey Knutson 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Leaighann Motley upended Anna Stephey 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 and Bellevue’s Kaitlyn Cullen topped Linzi Boos 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.
Bellevue’s No. 2 duo of Ella Little and Maddie Corrado beat Whitney Johnston 7-6, 6-2.
Columbian’s No. 1 doubles team of Alexis smith and Erin Musil defeated Sage Garcia and Alivia Hamons 7-6, 6-1.
The Lady Red improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the SBC Lake.
Fliers dominate Sailors
VERMILION — Clyde stormed past Vermilion 5-0 Thursday to improve to 2-1 in Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division play.
The Fliers (3-4) gave up just two sets in singles play, and four in doubles.
Lakotah Cagle beat Macy Boger 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Siera Hisey downed Kelsey Osborne 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2, and Madi Bannister blanked Jasper Augirre 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
Mary Wilkerson and Emma Strudthoff defeated Sailors Karsyn Brewer and Olivia Stacklin 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Fliers Hali Hagemeyer and Megan Barrett beat Emilley Smith and Kara Shockley 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.
Rams take out Fostoria
UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky swept the singles matches Thursday en route to beating Fostoria 4-1.
The lone win for the Redmen came at No. 1 doubles, where Kyhra Baeder and Shanelle Smith outlasted Abby Davidson and Mara Smalley 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Jodi Smalley raced past Jennaleigh McCumber 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Rams (2-4), Emma Schoenberger beat Naija Miller 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, and Calle Manzi beat Raeylyn Hoffman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
Rams Hannah Frey and Emma Swihart added a 6-3, 7-6 No. 2 doubles win against Maddie Cook and Imani Velasquez.
