Buckeye Central boys golf
Coach: Zac Kaple.
2017: 2-6, 7th in N10.
Returning letterwinners: Seniors Adam Krebs, Nic Ratliff, Nick Fike. Sophomore Tyler Rose.
Others: Junior Jared Mason.
Outlook: With a lot of top players and solid teams in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference, Kaple is expecting his team to improve from last year, but not compete in the league with the top teams.
“Upper Sandusky has a stud (Brett Montgomery) and I would consider them the front-runner this year,” Kaple said. “I expect Seneca East to impress some people and Mohawk and Wynford will be solid as well and Carey will be OK.
“We will struggle against some of the upper-echelon teams. I just want my returners to improve on their scores from last year and stay focused on that.”
One returner from last year who will be looked to as the leader is Krebs.
Krebs had a 45.2 scoring average for nine holes and was an N10 honorable mention pick last season. Kaple said he will have to rely on his experienced players to bring along a strong freshmen group, which will see some time at the varsity level.
“I expect Adam to be our leader and I look for him to improve this year, but we still have a lot of unknown with our youth,” he said. “It’s hard telling what we have with our handful of freshmen, but overall, I see a lot of good things out of them.”
