Rams tennis can’t solve Wildcats

KENTON — Upper Sandusky’s Emma Schoenberger and Mara Smalley defeated Kenton Abby Hartshorn and Elizabeth Heintz, 7-5, 6-2 in first doubles Wednesday.

Unfortunately for the Rams, that was their only win of the day, and they lost to the Wildcats, 4-1.

The Rams fell to 0-2.

At first singles, Kenton’s Kykaela Schriber knocked of USHS’ Jodi Smalley, 6-3, 6-1. At second singles, the Wildcats prevailed again, as Kelsey Flowers topped Abby Davidson, 6-2, 6-0.

In the third singles match, the Wildcats’ Lily Osborn topped Calle Manzi, 6-1, 6-4.

At second doubles, Kenton’s duo of Kayce Sherman and Abby Oberliner beat Rams Emma Swihart and Hannah Frey, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Bellevue tennis nipped by Huron

HURON — Bellevue won one singles match and won doubles match, but Huron won everything else, and edged the Lady Red 3-2.

The Tigers’ second singles player, Riley Frey, defeated Bellevue’s Leighann Motley, 6-3, 7-5. The Tigers also prevailed at third singles, when Hannah Brunow knocked off Kaitlyn Cullen, 6-0, 6-4.

The clinching win came at first doubles, where Huron’s team of Presley Boyd and Katelyn Rogers got past the Bellevue duo of Sage Garcia and Perla Monreal 6-3, 6-1.

Bellevue’s No. 1 singles player, Rayven Whyde, upended Huron’s Desiree Fisher, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Bellevue’s other win came at second doubles, when Ella Little and Alivia Hamons topped Morgan Cast and Libby Faflick, 6-1, 7-5.
