Bellevue boys golf
Coach: Jan TerVeen, 20th year.
2017: 5-7, fourth in Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division.
Returning letterwinners: Seniors Garrett Vickery; Connor Rospert; Zach Eskins.
Others: Juniors Layne Krupp; Jackson Moyer; Hayden Foos; Alex Martinez; Andrew Dye. Sophomores Hudson Strayer; Aaron Brubaker.
Outlook: With not much experience this season, TerVeen is hoping the younger players learn quickly and will set themselves up for years to come.
“We are young and we had a few guys playing summer baseball, so they are just now getting back into the swing of things,” TerVeen said. “I have a good group of guys and I hope they improve every day as the season goes on.”
The injury bug hit the Redmen already this season as Eskins went down with an injury and is out for the season.
“We had some bad luck already, but this will give one of the juniors or even younger guys a chance to take that spot,” TerVeen said.
He said Vickery and Rospert have been trading off who’s had the best score this year and expects them to be the leaders. TerVeen said he wants to keep working with his younger players, but after three tryouts, five tournaments and a dual match last week, it hasn’t left much time for practice so far.
“I expect Perkins, Clyde and Norwalk to be the leaders of the conference this year. They all have some good players back and are good programs,” TerVeen said. “I just want to see my guys improve and for the younger guys to gain that experience for years to come.”
