GOLF: The team of Tim Mannas and Dale Wisebaker won the first half of the Amvets League at Seneca Hills with 83 1/2 points. Dick Rochester and Ralph Kizer took second with 78 1/2. Prizes went to Kizer (closest in one on No. 16), Tom Miller (long putt on No. 18) and Scott Swartz (long putt on No. 14).

n The Senior League at Clinton Heights was won by the team of Dick Hull, Ed Lutz, Jim Kimmell and Ray Nutter with a score of seven under. In second with a score of six under was the team of Jim Ruess, Wade Burger, Skip Halcom and Dave Welly. Prizes were awarded to Kimmell (closest in one, closest in three), John Powell (closest in two) and Gary Kroeger (long putt).

BASEBALL: The Northern Ohio Storm baseball tournament organization will host a tryout Saturday for its 8-and-under fall ball team. The tryout runs 10 a.m.-noon at Tiffin University softball field at the Paradiso Complex. The 8-and-under team will compete in the Huron fall league (mid-August to mid-October) with games on Saturdays. Players must be 8 or younger as of May 1, 2018 to be eligible. This organization will teach the fundamentals of the game and let the boys have fun. To pre-register or if you have any questions, call coach Mike Latona at (419) 618-4164.

5K RUN: Lourdes University will host its second annual 5K Terra Cotta Trot Oct. 14. The event starts at 8 a.m. on the university mid-campus grounds near the Ebeid Recreational Center. Cost is $25. Register at https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Sylvania/LUTerraCottaTrot. Prizes go to the top three male and female finishers, most spirited runner and top fund raiser.
