BASEBALL: The Northern Ohio Storm baseball tournament organization will host a tryout Saturday for its 8-and-under fall ball team. The tryout runs 10 a.m.-noon at Tiffin University softball field at the Paradiso Complex. The 8-and-under team will compete in the Huron fall league (mid-August to mid-October) with games on Saturdays. Players must be 8 or younger as of May 1, 2018 to be eligible. 5K RUN: Lourdes University will host its second annual 5K Terra Cotta Trot Oct. 14. The event starts at 8 a.m. on the university mid-campus grounds near the Ebeid Recreational Center. Cost is $25. GOLF: Brad Echelberry, Brian Krauss, Tom Puffenberger and Whitney Florence shot 13 under to edge P.J. Hufford, Charlie Reinbolt, Dave Sendelbach and Pete Kleinhenz by a stroke to win the Bump’s Tuesday Traveling Group at Fremont Country Club. The runners-up earned the only skin. Next week’s event occurs at Lincoln Hills near Upper Sandusky at 9 a.m. Players should be at the course by 8:30 a.m. for the draws.
n In the 2018 Seneca Hills Tuesday Morning Golf League, Paula Wise was closest to the pin in two, while Carla Siebenaller had the longest drive on the red tee on No. 9. Linda Lawrence had the longest drive on No. 9 on the black tee. Carol Shook had the most two-putts.
In the Baumann Women’s Monday Night Scramble League at Clinton Heights, Pam Moyer and Erica Gordon lead the league. Nan Sauber and Linda Bell were prize winners on No. 14, while Linda Lawrence and Paula Wise were the prize winners on No. 15. Carla Siebenaller and Barb Kuhn had the low putts, and won a skin on No. 15.
