Clyde’s Cziesla qualifies for state

BOWLING GREEN – Clyde had two singles players and a doubles team in district play at Bowling Green State University Wednesday. Singles player Lukas Cziesla beat Tristan Uribes (Wauseon) 6-0, 6-1 and then topped Lexington’s Josh Mueller 6-4, 7-5 to make it to the semifinals, which will be played Saturday at 10 a.m.

With the two wins, Cziesla became the first Flier boys tennis player to qualify to state since 1996.

The other singles player Daniel Stevens lost his first match to Ada’s Zachary Beaschler 6-0, 6-0. Beaschler is Cziesla’s opponent Saturday.

The doubles duo of Noah Prunty and Jacob Strudthoff lost to Ottawa-Glandorf’s Zach Balbaugh and Drew Kuhlman 6-3, 6-0.
