Hopewell-Loudon combines depth with Hoover and Roerdink in tri

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Corrin Hoover and Abbi Roerdink each won two individual events, ran on separate winning relays and added legs on the same winning relay Thursday to help Hopewell-Loudon narrowly win a triangular.
The Chieftains held off Riverdale 87-84, with Liberty-Benton taking third (14).
Hoover claimed the pole vault (9-0) and 300 hurdles (51.2), and Roerdink took the 100 (13.7) and 400 (1:06.7).
Hoover also anchored the 4×800 (11:08) to victory and Roerdink anchored the winning 4×200 (1:59.9), with both also running the winning 4×400 (4:38.2).
Emily Pace, Taylor Leiter and Renae Kapelka rounded out the 4×800. Taylor Sours, Elizabeth Wells and Channelle Lyons filled out the 4×200. Emily Pace and Leiter also ran on the the 4×400.
Along with Hoover and Roerdink, depth also played a key role for H-L.
The Chieftains took all three scoring spots in the pole vault and 300 hurdles, the first two in the 800 and 200, and had two placers in both the shot and 3,200.
Leiter (8-0) and Becky Green (8-0) ended second and third in the pole vault, while Lyons (55.1) and Shanny Strahm (1:02.1) did the same in the 300 hurdles.
Pace (2:42.2) and Leiter (2:48) ran 1-2 in the 800, with Taylor Sours (29.1) and Wells finishing first and second in the 200.
Iceis Schindorf won the shot (28-11 1/2) and Jazmine Nutter took third (28-1), while Kapelka ran second in the 3,200 (14:01) and Hailey Welly ended third (14:18).
Other seconds came from Morgan Searles in the discus (76-1), Lyons in the 100 hurdles (19.2), and the 4×100 team of Lyons, Greene, Sours and Wells (58.0).
Bickelhaupt, Herbert lead the way in tri
MOUNT BLANCHARD — Donovan Bickelhaupt’s speed and Brendan Herbert’s varied talents led the way Thursday as Hopewell-Loudon cruised to a triangular win.
Bickelhaupt raced to wins in the 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.1) and ran with Herbert on the winning 4×200 (1:41).
Herbert also claimed the high jump (5-7) and led off the winning 4×800 (9:39) to help the Chieftains score 82 points for the team win. Riverdale took second over Liberty-Benton by a 49-34 margin.
Dominic Hedrick and Logan St. Clair filled out the 4×200 for H-L. Trey Masterson, Kyle Rumschlag and Caden Crawford rounded out the 4×800.
Other wins came from Carter Ritchey in the long jump (17-4 3/4), St. Clair in the 110 hurdles (17.0), Crawford in the 1,600 (5:15), Masterson in the 800 (2:21.6) and Brendan Durbin in the 3,200 (12:53).
Hedrick (11.8) and John Turco (12.0) ended second and third in the 100, with other seconds going to Hedrick in the 200 (24.0), the 4×100 team of Turco, Garrett McCoy, St. Clair and Brock Williams (49.3), and the 4×400 team of Turco, Kyle Huth, McCoy and Rumschlag (4:11.1).
Thirds went to pole vaulter Ryan Alvarado (9-0), shot putter Luke Bolte (35.4), Luke Graham in the discus (100-4), Rumschlag in the high jump (5-0), Mike Arbogast in the long jump (15-4), Ritchey in the 1,600 (5:31) and Bryce Arbogast in the 400 (1:04).
