Bucks split doubleheader with St. Joe
NEW WASHINGTON — Josh Dentinger fanned 12 in six innings in the opener, but Buckeye Central struggled in the second game Saturday as the Bucks split a season-opening doubleheader with Fremont St. Joe.
BC won Game 1 6-3, but lost the second 13-3
Dentinger (1-0) scattered five hits and our walks and allowed just one earned run to earn the win in the opener. Nick Ramey pitched a 1-2-3 seventh for the save, fanning one and getting groundouts — all on nine pitches.
Kyle Sanderson led off the offense by doubling in a run in the first inning and later scoring on an error, then singling in a run in the fifth.
Brady Biglin scored twice and singled, Tommy Phillips singled twice, Dentinger had a single, run and RBI, Payton Phenicie singled and Brandon Mann and John Wurm both scored.
Losing pitcher Logan Black (0-1) singled and scored for the Crimson Streaks.
Dylan Filliater singled twice, Garrett Michael had a single, run and RBI, Ricky Geyer scored, Isaaac Jimenez singled and Blake Michael drove in a run.
In the second game, St. Joe (1-1) plated four runs in the top of the third inning for a 6-3 lead, then added seven runs over the next two frames to pull away.
Winning pitcher Brody Deck (1-0) doubled in two runs in the key third inning, and added a run and another RBI.
Garrett Michael and Filliater each added two singles and two RBIs, with Michael scoring twice and Filliater scoring once.
Geyer chipped in a single, run and RBI, Noah Drown scored twice and Derek Ritzman and Zach Wonderly each scored.
Biglin (0-1) took the loss for the Bucks (1-1), giving up nine earned runs and two more unearned ones in four innings. He also singled twice and drove in a run.
Phenicie doubled and scored, Mann singled and scored, Ramey singled and Phillips scored.
