Surge in third propels Willard

WILLARD — Willard battled past Hopewell-Loudon 38-28 in the second half Tuesday to capture a 58-51 win.

The Crimson Streaks (4-15) trailed 23-20 at halftime, but Brevon Polachek netted six of his team-high 15 points in the third quarter to help Willard hold a 22-14 scoring advantage in the period.

Terry Baldridge added nine of his 14 points in the third, and also grabbed 11 rebounds for Willard. Myles Pinkston tossed in 10 points.

Luke Bolte’s 13 points and six boards paced the Chieftains (12-6). Jordyn Jury chipped in 10 points and six assists, Jake Simonis scored 10 points and Travis Milligan tallied nine points.

Old Fort can’t catch Woodmore

ELMORE — Woodmore vaulted out to a 23-14 lead by the end of the first period and kept Old Fort at bay from there Tuesday en route to a 65-55 win.

Jacob Webb sparked the Stockaders (10-9) in the loss with 25 points.

Zach DeWese backed him with nine points and seven rebounds, Luke Wagner grabbed eight boards and dished three assists and A.J. Steyer had three assists.

Blue Jackets no match for Rockets

OAK HARBOR — Tate Smith nearly had a double-double and Oak Harbor forced 24 turnovers Tuesday in a 57-39 win against New Riegel.

Smith turned in 17 points and eight rebounds for the Rockets (15-4). Jac Alexander led everyone with 18 points, Clay Schultz scored 11 points, Alex Gezo snared five steals and Aric McAtee dished five assists.

Ben Dryfuse’s 17 points keyed the Blue Jackets (10-9), but none of his teammates scored more than six.

Austin Lescallett and Dylan Smith both grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists.
