Senecas, Tornadoes compete at Ontario Invite

ONTARIO — Both Tiffin high schools competed in the Ontario Invitational Saturday along with 10 other schools.

The Calvert girls claimed fifth with 120 points while the boys placed seventh with 43 points. Both Columbian teams placed sixth with the girls scoring 84 points and the boys scoring 90.

The Calvert boys 400 free relay team broke a 17-year-long standing record. The previous record of 4:01.59 was beaten by the team of David Stosio, Sam Seibert, Sam Krout and Christian Staib placing sixth in 3:57.23.

Taylor Harris paced the Seneca girls by winning the 100 fly (1:01.17) and 100 breast (1:10.33). Meghan Miller added a third in the 50 free (28.19). The 400 free relay of Erin Wagner, Harris, Miller and Alana Kennedy also claimed third (4:15.25) while the same girls took fourth in the 200 medley relay (2:12.84). Wagner placed fifth in the 500 free (6:49.03).

Toby Ramsdell was the lone TC boys swimmer to claim a title at the invite. Ramsdell won the 100 fly in 57.38. The senior was the final leg of the 200 free relay team along with Clay Moore, Trevor McCarthy and Josh Fanning that claimed fourth (1:42.84). Ramsdell also capped the 400 free relay team of Moore, Colin Burkett and Fanning that took fifth (3:52.58).

Anna Fletcher led the TC girls’ efforts with a runner-up finish in the 100 fly (1:03.72). Fifths were added by Sierra Steinmetz in the 100 breast (1:24.4) and the 200 medley team of Dannah Smith, Steinmetz, Fletcher and Kailey Windsor (2:13.75).
