Sailors’ boys coast against Columbian
Vermilion traveled to take on Columbian Wednesday, and came away with a 7-1 win.
Jacob Warnament scored the lone TC goal off a free kick. Gavin Coppus was credited with an assist. Warnament’s goal was the first time Vermilion has been scored on in the last five games.
Upper Sandusky battles its way to victory
MANSFIELD — It was a battle of the Rams with Upper Sandusky coming out on top of a 3-2 win over Mansfield Madison Wednesday.
The first win for Upper Sandusky came at second singles with Mady West beating Chloe Lyndsey, 7-6 (7-0), 6-2. Dani Conigy followed at third singles with a 6-4, 6-4 decision to defeat Helena Hicks.
Jodi Smalley and Mara Smalley clinched the team win with a win at first doubles. The Smalley duo took wins of 6-4, 6-3 to beat bailey Hill and Natalie Reynolds.
The first of the losses came at first singles with Manfield Madison’s Ally Marsh beating Sydney Schryer 7-6 (9-7), 6-2. The other loss came with Caylynn Pency and Alana Pierce beating Upper Sandusky’s Abby Davidson and Lyndsey McQuown in three, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Chieftains struggle against Eagles
FINDLAY — Hopewell-Loudon tried to get something going in the second set, but it fell short in a three set loss, 25-19, 31-29, 25-13 to Liberty-Benton.
Jacque Burns and Kenadee Seibenaller led the Chieftain offense with nine kills each, while Seibenaller had three blocks. Hailey Coppus dished out 23 assists and Chelsey Depinet collected 23 digs and a pair of aces.
