Columbian notches victory over Vermilion

Of the four matches contested Tuesday between Columbian and Vermilion, the Tornadoes won three of them, holding off the Sailors 3-1.

Columbian’s Brooke Smith beat Kelsey Osborn 6-1, 6-2, while the Tornadoes’ Katie Smith got past Vermilion’s Karsyn Brewer, 6-2, 6-2.

In the lone doubles match, TC’s team of Sophie Crist and Marina Pennycuff defeated Kiana Fridrich and Olivia Stacklin, 6-0, 6-1.

The Tornadoes’ only loss came at third singles, where Vermilion’s Macey Boger topped TC’s Casey Knutson, 6-4, 5-7, 10-7.

Fliers move to 8-0 in SBC

CLYDE — Clyde swept the singles matches and earned a split in doubles Tuesday to beat Norwalk 4-1 and remain perfect in Sandusky Bay Conference play.

Heidi Marshall gave the Fliers (10-1, 8-0 SBC) a 6-2, 6-0 No. 1 singles win against Megan Berry, Alayna Barrera beat Gabby Horowitz 7-6 (5), 6-2 at No. 2, and Jil Eisenblaetter dropped Lizzie Ratliff 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.

Paige Brown and Siera Hisey gave Clyde a 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 No. 2 doubles win against Sela Berry and Mara Berry.

Truckers Macy Miller and Jordan Grant defeated Lakotah Cagle and Akane Aritsuka 7-6 (7), 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.

Pirates edge out Redmen

BELLEVUE — Perkins won all three singles matches Tuesday to clip Sandusky Bay Conference foe Bellevue 3-2.

Serena Bruno blanked Bellevue’s Chloe Brubaker 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Pirates, Maria Schoder beat Rayven Whyde 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, and Diana Schoder dropped Summer Strunk 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3.

Redmen (8-4, 5-3 SBC) Mackenna Peacock and Skylar Strunk upended Cassie Cebull and Dehvin Shumate 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 1 doubles.

Bellevue’s Mady Brugnone and Wyanna Schalk defeated Ashley Kaufman and Ryleigh Keller 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
