GOLF: The 2nd Annual Tiffin Columbian Athletic Boosters Golf Scramble is to be on Sept. 24 at Clinton Heights. There is to be a 9 a.m. shotgun start with registration beginning at 8:15 a.m. The cost is $50 per golfer and includes a hot dog on the turn, lunch after, golf, a cart and a chance at prize holes. n The team of Ron Minard, Butch Bricker and Mike Todd tied with Ernie Peaytt, Bob Deckard, Al Mireles and Jack Felton at four under to win the front nine scramble in the Lakeland Senior League. Peaytt and company tied with Dave Salucci, Ivan Crowe and Tom Steinmetz on the back nine stableford with a score of plus two.
n Friday’s Senior League at Clinton Heights ended in a six way tie at four under led by Don Kin, Dave Combs, Tom Ardner, Jim Carter, Steve Hepp and Chuck Wilbert. Prizes were awarded to Skip Halcomb (closest in one on No. 5), Bob Shultz (closest in two on No. 4), Ardner (closest in three on No. 9) and Carter (long putt on No. 7).
GIRLS VARSITY GOLF: Buckeye Central hosted North Baltimore on Wednesday at Cranberry Hills, taking a 207-218 loss. The loss gives the Bucks a 4-4 record in non-conference play. The Buckeye Central low scorer was Paige Shealy with a 44.
JV VOLLEYBALL: Hopewell-Loudon took wins of 25-15 and 25-23 to beat Liberty-Benton on Wednesday. Abbi Roerdink led offensively with four kills followed by Hannah Welly’s two. Welly also had a block and four aces. Morgan Searles led defensively with seven digs and added four assists.
FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL: Elizabeth Wells’ seven kills helped lead Hopewell-Loudon to beat Liberty-Benton 25-18, 25-9. Taylor Sours added three kills and recorded seven digs. Brynn Carrel dished out 13 assists.
JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL: The Hopewell-Loudon seventh grade team fell 25-11, 25-16 to Liberty-Benton. Shea Harper had four aces and Jada Breidenbach added three.
n Liberty-Benton’s eighth grade handled Hopewell-Loudon 25-13, 25-16. Megan Kreais had three aces and Hannah Borer had four assists.
