Chieftains overwhelm Old Fort twice
BASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon dominated both games Saturday against Old Fort, with Kyle Reinbolt throwing a one-hitter in a 14-0 win and Cody Balliet going 4 for 4 with a double in a 9-0 victory.
Reinbolt struck out eight and walked just one in the five-inning opener. He also went 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs.
Andrew Scaife added four RBIs off a double and single, Ethan Oswalt (run), scored twice, doubled and singled, Zach Kreais (run) knocked in three runs and singled, Derek Foos scored twice and singled twice, Alex Bour (RBI) scored four runs and singled twice, Travis Milligan (RBI) scored twice and Jaret Nelson (RBI) and Balliet (run, RBI) both singled.
Jacob Webb had the lone hit for the Stockaders. Tom Bethel took the loss.
Balliet helped break open a close contest in the second game with a two-run single in the fourth, sparking a six-run burst to put H-L up 7-0. He finished the game with four RBIs and scored a run.
Jaret Nelson added an RBI double in the fourth. He ended 3 for 3 with a run and another RBI.
Kreais went 2 for 3 with two runs, and Bour (run, RBI), Reinbolt (run, RBI) and Scaife (run) all singled. Oswalt also scored.
Kaleb Wilkinson suffered the loss for Old Fort. Webb, Bethel, A.J. Steyer and Jerrod Woodall all singled.
