TC opens season with win over New Riegel | Advertiser-Tribune NEW RIEGEL — Good defense and good base running will be key for Columbian this season and it was evident Wednesday in its opener at New Riegel. The Tornadoes began the 2016 campaign with a 4-2 non-league win. Macy Allen went the distance in the circle, giving up one earned run on five hits with a strikeout and a walk. "We are young and still learning, but I talk with the team all the time about playing good defense and we will have a chance in any game," TC coach Tom Artino said. "Everybody pitched in and made plays defensively with runners on base.
