Daniel, Boes stand out in all-star game

FOSTORIA – Columbian’s Cody Daniel won the dunk contest, but in the Fostoria Athletic Boosters All-Star Game itself, Carey’s Zach Boes excelled.

The Blue Devil standout poured 23 points to lead the West past the East 127-118 in the boys game.

In the girls game, the East nipped the West, 88-87.

In the boys contest, Upper Sandusky put up 22 points, while Carey’s Jared Wentling had 16.

For the East Sandusky’s Desmond Hopkins scored 17, and Fremont Ross’ James Wright had 16 points to lead the West, with Bellevue’s Isaac Hartley and Fremont Ross’ Grant McConnell scored 12 each. Hopewell-Loudon’s Ryan Lommerse had eight points, and his H-L teammate Garret Sendelbach added six. Daniel had four.

In the girls game, Bellevue’s Carly Santoro had 19 points for the Eastm while Lady Red teammate Shelby Stamm had 11. Columbian’s Valesha Province scored 12 points, while fellow Tornado Laura Heminger had five points. Lakota’s Destiny Long-Meyer put up had eight points. Columbian’s Dianicia Whitman scored two.

For the West, St. Wendelin’s Makenzie McAfee had 17 points, while Fostoria’s Jada Hampton had 13. Hampton won the 3-point contest earlier in the day.
