Crosstown clash won by Calvert

Calvert took all three singles matches en route to scoring a 4-1 victory over crosstown rival Columbian. Highlighting the day was Calvert’s Madison Daniel, who swept her No. 1 singles match against Sam Krintzline 6-0, 6-0.

Also in singles action, Laura Haley beat Eden Stephey 6-1, 6-3. Sammy Gase beat Bri Goodman 6-1, 6-3.

Both doubles matches went to a third-set tie breaker with the teams splitting the results.

Calvert also took the No. 1 doubles match as Nicole Fretz and Bradlee Warnement beat Hannah Hawk and Dallas Harper, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6. Columbian’s Lizzie Smith and Kaleigh Abbott beat Gabby Bennett and Mikayla Dariano, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

Fliers fly to 5-0

CLYDE – Clyde surrendered just two games Thursday while overpowering Oak Harbor, 5-0, in Sandusky Bay Conference play.

Andrea Nearhood blanked Michelle Boss 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Fliers (5-0, 2-0 SBC), and Fiene Eckstein did the same to Christine Bolen at No. 3.

Clyde’s Marissa Gill beat Paige Preisman 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

Fliers Brooke Smith and Clara Sewell shut out Libbie Grieder and Shannon Binns, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

Jane Kardotzke and Melissa Laconis defeated Rockets (2-6, 0-3) Paige Sindeldecker and Kelsey Bodnar 6-1, 6-0.

Rams roll past FHS

UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky stormed past Fostoria 5-0 Thursday.

The closest match came at No. 1 singles, where Nadia English beat Autumn Affholder 6-3, 6-1.

Sara Gier dropped Sabra Tate 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and the Rams took No. 3 via forfeit.

Upper Sandusky’s Kayla Gault and Hope Vorhees defeated Cristy Gao and Jessica Kauffman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

The No. 2 doubles team of Paige Burger and Shelby Passett beat Redmen Ellen Guan and Cierra Valenti 6-0, 6-0.
