TC grad Walker helps East to victory

FOSTORIA – Columbian quarterback Donovan Walker threw for 124 yards, and his three touchdown passes helped the East build a big lead Saturday in the Fostoria Boosters East-West All-Star Game Saturday.

But after a furious West rally that saw it take the lead with just over two minutes remaining, the East countered with Dale Irby’s 75 yard kickoff return, giving the East a 36-32 victory.

Walker was the lone Columbian athlete to play in the game, which featured 11 other area players on the East roster. Fostoria’s Keegan Green had two carries in the game.

Irby, the Sandusky Perkins product who was named East MVP, also caught two touchdown passes and rushed 34 yards for a TD, in addition to picking off two passes defensively, including the game-clincher.

Pandora-Gilboa’s Seth Schmenk threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns for the West, while Liberty-Benton’s Chase Cook caught seven passes for 110 yards and a touchdown.

A complete recap of the contest will appear in Monday’s edition.
