Columbian single minded in victory at Shelby
SHELBY – Columbian dropped both doubles matches but was victorious in all singles matches, squeaking by Shelby 3-2 in Northern Ohio League play.
In singles contests, Columbian’s Nick Gaietto defeated Wes Eidt 6-4, 6-4, while Braden Kuhn defeated Eric Gove 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) and Ben Klepper beat Josh Stahl 6-2, 7-6 (10-8).
Shelby’s duo of Ben Benion and Grant Workman defeated Eline Widman and Hunter Stark 6-4, 6-3, while Josh Rittenhous and Bryce Briggs defeated Zach Gaietto and Adam Young 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.
The Tornadoes improved to 10-5 (6-2 NOL) on the year.
Rams serve Redmen
BUCYRUS – After dropping the first match, Upper Sandusky swept the remaining singles and doubles matches beating Bucyrus 4-1.
Mark Musick picked up the Redmen’s only victory beating Seth Sprang 7-6 (7-0), 7-6 (7-5).
Upper Sandusky’s Evan Scheck defeated Dalon King 6-1, 6-0 while Seth Frey took down Chase Bowman 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles action the Rams victories came from Danial Maltsbarger and Aaron Pirc who defeated D.J. Dasher and Greg Patrick 6-0, 6-1, and the duo of Drew Barth and Noah Frey defeated Ryan Adkins and Nic Ruckman 6-0, 6-1.
The Rams now move to 8-3, 5-0 North Central Conference.
St. Peter’s shuts out Calvert
MANSFIELD – Mansfield St. Peter’s did not extend a warm welcome to Calvert as the Spartans dominated the Senecas 5-0 Thursday.
The Spartans took all singles matches as Paul Zitko defeated Jack Burtis 6-2, 6-1, while Andrew Stein beat Ryan Gase 6-1, 6-0 and Jared Ruffing defeated Phillip Boes 6-0, 6-0.
The Spartans’ dominance continued in doubles as the duo of Carl Daniel and Sheldon Daniel dropped Danny George and Nick Martorana 6-0, 6-0, while Stanley Reser and David Ruffing defeated Miranda Shorts and Amanda Traxler 6-1, 6-1.
