Calvert gets first win

CRESTLINE – Calvert swept through singles play, not losing a single game and picking up its first win of the season, 4-1 over Crestline.

Jack Burtis topped Cody Taylor at No. 1 singles. Ryan Gase beat Alex Langdon at No. 2, and Phillip Boes beat Jacob Martin by identical scores.

Calvert also picked up a doubles win from Miranda Shorts and Amanda Traxler who beat Peter William and Daniel Perry 6-1, 6-0.

Crestline’s lone win came at No. 1 doubles where Blake Miller and Hunter Music beat Danny George and Nick Martorana, 6-0, 6-4.

Tornadoes drop NOL match

MANSFIELD – Ontario overwhelmed Columbian in two of its three wins Thursday to claim a 3-2 Northern Ohio League victory.

Brandon Wagner beat Columbian’s Nick Gaietto 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Ty Carcione upended Braden Kuhn 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2, with Warriors Moke Mischack and Christian Zupan dropping Hunter Stark and Eline Widman 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Tornadoes (12-6, 7-3 NOL) Adam Young and Zach Gaietto outlasting Drew Jackson and Logan Wilson, 2-6, 6-5, 6-3.

Ben Klepper blanked Ontario’s Andrew Schultheis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
