Alexander sails to meet record
FREMONT – Adam Alexander set a meet record and Old Fort teammate Hunter Perry captured the high jump to top area efforts in Saturday’s Fremont Invitational.
Alexander cleared 14-2 for his record, and Perry topped 6-1 in the high jump.
Brad Bannister added a second in the 800 (2:03.39) to help the Stockaders take seventh with 36 points.
Columbian finished sixth with 50 points, while Fremont Ross upended Norwalk 134-127 for the team title.
Brandon Gibson’s runner-up run in the 1,600 (4:28.94) paced Columbian.
In the girls meet, Columbian claimed third with 60 points and Old Fort ended 10th (2).
Fremont Ross beat Notre Dame Academy 172-157 for the championship.
Columbian had two outright runner-up finishes: the 4×1,600 team of Amanda Schwartz, Derra Cheatham, Cassandra Gooding and Alexis Desjardins (23:37.34), and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Claudia Riedy, Erica Prenzlin, Samantha Fry and Marisa Stephens (1:10.64).
Samantha Fry also tied for second in the pole vault (9-0) for TC.
