DARTBALL: Sandusky County teams York South and York North claimed second and third at the Ohio Grange Open Class Dartball Tournament at the Seneca County Opportunity Center. Larry Kille, Ed Waugaman, Bob Kessler, Sam Waugaman, Denny Stacy, LaVerde Kuns, Bob Wickert and Tom Waugaman played for runner-up York South. The York North team consisted of Bob Bowman, Dave Fleming, Bob Lindsay, Richard Hughes, Jonathan Kuns, Jim Musselman, Sharon Orgon, Mark Weiker and Mike Wolfe. Middlebury of Knox County claimed the team title, with Salem out of Wyandot County finishing fourth. Dallas Parsell, Lew Gottfried, Larry Webster, Ed Shafferback, Jim Gatechell, Wayne Holzwart, Steve Miller, Stephan Grubel, Nick Scheck and Art Mittermaier played for Salem.

JV BASEBALL: Noah Widman had two hits, and Kris Wilson scored twice as Columbian defeated Lake, 5-2. Austin Mungia got the win for the Tornadoes.

n Bryce Steinheauser had a double, triple and pitched all seven innings in Hopewell-Loudon’s 12-9 win over Colonel Crawford.

JUNIOR HIGH TRACK: Ontario’s boys beat Tiffin 64-57. Clayton Nominee won the 110 hurdles and 200 hurdles for Tiffin, and Jacob Anderson took the 800 and 1,600.

RACING: Tim Schaffer claimed his 13th career 410 spring car win Friday at Attica Raceway Park. Shaffer ran fifth and sixth through the first half of the race before moving to third on lap 15. He took over second two laps later, gained the lead on lap 23 and held on to win. Doug Drown captured the Sunoco American Late Model Series feature. John Ivy took the opening race of the JLH General Contractors Championship Series, his 13th career 305 sprints victory.

DISC GOLF: The Thursday Nights in Tiffin Disc Golf League begins May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Hedges-Boyer Park. Entry fee is $5 for the best-disc format league. Players should meet by the practice basket. For more information, call (419) 934-3970.

n The team of Jim Miccichi, Lowell Hosler, Brian Krauss and Tim Manna shot 3 under par to win Monday’s Retiree’s League at Seneca Hill. Prizes went to Steve Scheafer (long putt No.10) and Dutch Edebern (closest to pin No. 16).

YOUTH FOOTBALL: Chieftain Youth Football will hold an informational meeting April 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of Bascom United Church.
