CALVERT BASKETBALL: The Calvert boys team will begin sectional tournament against Vanlue Wednesday at Fostoria with an 8 p.m tipoff. Pre-sale tickets for this game will be available at Calvert today (8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Wednesday (8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.). Tickets will be $4 for students, $6 for adults. A portion of the pre-sale income will benefit Calvert Athletics.

n The Calvert girls will play South Central High School Thursday in the district tournament at Shelby with a 6:15 p.m. tipoff. Pre-sale tickets for this game will be available at Calvert today (8:30 a.m 6 p.m), Wednesday (8:30 a.m. -3:30pm) and Thursday (8:30am – 3:30pm). Tickets will be $4 for students, $6 for adults. NEW RIEGEL BASKETBALL: New Riegel’s boys team will travel to Fostoria Wednesday to play Arcadia in a Sectional Finals game at 6:15 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are available at New Riegel until Wednesday and will be $4 for students, $6 for adults.

n The New Riegel girls team will play Buckeye Central in a district tournament game Thursday at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the high school today through Thursday and are $4 for students, $6 for adults.

COLUMBIAN BASKETBALL: Columbian will play Kenton in the sectional final game at Riverdale at 8 p.m. Friday. There is no pre-sale. All tickets will be sold at the door.

YOUTH BASEBALL: Columbian baseball will hold youth camps for Tiffin City School youth for grades 2-5 on March 8 and for grades 6-8 on March 15. Camps will run 9 a.m.-noon each day. Specific camp information is available at or by calling coach Curt Mellott at 419-937-4889.

MOHAWK SUMMER SPORTS: Sign up for the 2014 Mohawk district summer baseball and softball league for players and coaches is Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Mohawk High School cafeteria. Students in Melmore, McCutchenville or Sycamore in kindergarten through eighth grade interested in playing can sign up at this time. Teams will be formed for boys little league, girls softball and junior pony leagues. Payment is requested at time of signup. You will also be asked to complete your child’s emergency medical form at time of sign up. If you cannot attend one of the sign up days, medical forms are available at the school office. Players who sign up after March 15 will pay a $10 late fee. Those who cannot attend may mail their form and payment to P.O. Box 196, McCutchenville, Ohio 44844. Be sure to designate which organization will receive your information. BASEBALL: Sign ups for Green Springs Baseball (Council Chambers) are today and March 4 from 6-8 p.m., and March 16 from 10a.m.-noon at the Fireman’s Breakfast. Costs are $25 for T-Ball (age 4-5) and Minor Leagues (6-7), and $50 for A, B and C teams (8-12). Ages are as of April 30. A family will be charged a maximum of $90. WRESTLING: Calvert’s Connor Kwiat grabbed first at 138 pounds in the High School Division during the Wooster Open Sunday.

n The Calvert Biddy Wrestling team competed at the Heidelberg Biddy Wrestling Tournament. Brady Bonnell won the championship in the 66-pound weight class. Kayler Reynolds placed second at 50 pounds. A.J. Bonnell took third at 60 pounds, while Marcos Herrera (55) and John Schumacker (56) placed fourth.

BABE RUTH FUNDRAISER: The Babe Ruth Fundraiser will take place March 23 from noon-4 p.m. at 182 St. Francis Ave. (behind St. Francis Nursing home). There will be raffles, late registrations, a bake sale, and more activities to be announced.
