BC wins sectional title on buzzer beater
ONTARIO- Brooke Karl’s teammates can thank her for another week of practice, but more importantly, a sectional championship after a last second shot propelled Buckeye Central past Colonel Crawford 39-38 in a Division IV sectional final at Ontario.
With two seconds left in regulation, Buckeye Central was down 38-36. Karl received an inbound pass outside the arc, and lofted the ball as the buzzer sounded ending the game and Colonel Crawford’s season.
Karl led the charge for the Bucks with 14 points and seven boards. Kilee Kimmel backed Karl up with 11 points. Isabelle Biglin added eight points to the Bucks’ win.
Buckeye Central will play New Riegel in the Division IV district semifinals Thursday at 8 p.m in Shelby.
Clyde turns back Fostoria
OLD FORT – Clyde put on a dominating performance Saturday evening as the Fliers upended Fostoria 78-13. Bre Michaels nailed three 3-pointers on her way to 15 points for the Fliers, followed by Hannah Wadsworth and Kelsey Michaels who each tossed in 12 points. Wadsworth connected with two 3-pointers of her own and Lexi Weber also hit a 3-pointer.
Fostoria’s Jada Hampton found herself a 3-pointer while putting up 11 points and Alexus Smith tossed in two points.
