Prep Swimming Roundup: Columbian falls in dual meet at Galion
GALION – Columbian traveled to Galion for a dual meet Saturday and returned home with dual losses. Columbian’s boys were defeated by Galion, 55-35. Columbian’s Isaac Lewis, Justin Schwartz, Chris Gates and Braden Kuhn placed first in the boys 200 free relay with a time of 1:41.06.
Gates finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.37, while Kuhn placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.75.
Columbian’s girls also fell to Galion 52-38. Columbian’s Kamryn Sharlow, Lindsay Young, Jordan Jarrett and Natalie Howard finished first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:56.59.
Howard finished first in the 200 free with a time of 2:17.62 and finished first in the 100 fly with a time of 1:06.79.
Sharlow finished first in the 50 free with a time of 28.53 while Jarrett finished first in the 500 free with a time of 6:25.06.
Calvert finishes 8th in?Napoleon
NAPOLEON – Corinne Harris won the 200 freestyle and Calvert’s team of six girls swam to an eighth- place finish out of 18 teams in the Napoleon Wildcat Invitational. Harris won her race in a time of 2:05.58. She also took fourth in the 100 freestyle (58.83).
Katie Tiell showed whether it’s a distance race or a sprint, she can put up points. Tiell scored in two individual events, taking third in the 500 freestyle (6:03.39) and 13th in the 50 freestyle (28.69).
Harris and Tiell teamed with Amanda Traxler and Emma Brodman to finish eighth in the 400 freestyle relay (4:30.40) and 14th in the 200 medley relay (2:20.02).
Calvert also got a 15th-place finish from Carmella Fabrizio in the 500 freestyle (7:05.24) and a 16th from Brodman in the 100 breaststroke (1:37.14).
Calvert’s lone male swimmer, Anthony Traxler, took 17th in the 50 freestyle (27.0).
