Carey proves too much for Van Buren

CAREY- Carey hosted Van Buren in a lopsided contest that saw the Blue Devils remain undefeated, winning 70-30.

The Black Knights committed 36 turnovers against Carey and were unable to answer the runs that Carey made in the first half alone. Carey had a 20-4 run in the first period, followed by a 25-9 run in the second.

Sydney Wentling and Logan Johnson each had 17 points for Carey. Wentling made three 3-pointers and four goals.

Johnson made one 3-pointer and had seven from the line. Ali Rymer also made seven from the line, had 16 total points, and led the team with 11 rebounds.

The Blue Devils stand 6-0.

OF’s Perry, NR’s Ladd players of week

Hunter Perry was named the boys MAL Player of the Week. Perry put up 41 points for Old Fort against Fremont St. Joe. He was 17 of 33 shooting, 1 for 1 in free throws, had 12 rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

New Riegel’s Lauren Ladd grabbed the girls’ MAL Player of the Week with 33 points over two games against Lakota and St. Wendelin. In the stretch, Ladd was 14 of 21 on field goals, 5 of 6 on free throws, 19 rebounds, three assists, and seven steals.
